Has anyone on here fitted the Genuine Fiat Doblo alarm? I'm thinking of getting one and wondered what fitting it was like? Easy? Many wires to connect? Do the remotes then operate the door locks?

Cheers,

Jon.

PS - Don't leave a mug with handle on it in the rear door drinks holders! Did it on my week old Dobbie and now have a nice three inch scratch down the side :(, as when you slide open the doors, there isn't room for it to clear the rear bodywork! Sheesh! :bang: Who designed that?

not sure but I think the Fiat alarm is fitted at the factory when you order the car. I expect a Fiat dealer will sell you one but I doubt they're cheap.
Chris can tell you more.

oh no, sorry to hear that :(
will have to remember that one.
Will the scratch polish out or is it too deep?

I think it's designed for bottles, not ceramic mugs, which are best left in the house.

The design is just fine. Why would anyone take a household mug into a car? I mean, finish eating and drinking before leaving home. Eating and drinking in cars really bugs me by the way and I won't permit it in mine. Eat and drink before setting out, and if you want food or drink on a journey: stop.

I took a cup of tea with me this morning because I was running late. I put it on the floor in the passenger footwell.
It might be silly but it makes you drive very carefully if you don't want to spill it ;).

Where did I say it was a Ceramic mug? It was a Thermos travel mug with handle. Designed to go in cup holders in vehicles. But that's by the by, the warning I posted was along the lines of - be careful whatever you put in there! Kids NDS consoles, PSP's, Mobiles etc... If they protrude more than 5mm or so, then opening the doors will either smash 'em to bits, scratch your bodywork or both!

Fair enough. I was just reminded of friends who have mugs sitting on their dashboards when they drive off, and end up with dirty crud rolling about on the floor of their cars, which is dangerous as well as disgusting.

Now I'm sorry about your scratch. I don't think I've ever put anything other than a small plastic bottle in mine, but then I don't carry kids, just adults and stuff.

Good luck anyway, and sorry I overreacted..

That' cool :) I'll promise not to mention eating/drinking and Doblo's in any future posts as it obviously flicks your switch :D

Getting back on topic, the alarm I was interested in was: -

http://fiat-doblo.sgpetch.co.uk/pag.../category=ROOT-extras/accessory=Alarm/id=2682

If it's well integrated into the Doblo then it could well be worth the money if it simply plugs in and works. If it requries lots of wires being tapped into and the like, then maybe not. I'm just curious if someone else has fitted one and how well it works...

Quick update, I got the above Alarm and it's a proper META one. Fitted it last weekend and apart from spending ages trying to find the hole to route the cable from the engine bay to the interior, it was a simple installation. Nice Blue key fob blipper matches the Fiat key and operates the alarm and central locking! Top stuff! Bonus is it comes with two remote blippers, so the spare key for the better half now has remote central locking too!

Only query I have is that when arming/disarming and the indicators flash, it's only the wing indicators that do so. The front and rear's remain off, which is a pain when unlocking for a distance when you can't see the sides of the dobby. So..... Does anyone know what colour's the wires are that operate the pair of indicators on the front and rear? I can feel a modification coming on ;)

Cheers,

Jon.
