Whilst 2hrs from home today with the temp at 0c, some rain and 50 miles of single track to drive my drivers wiper stopped working. Upon inspection the joint where the arm meets the horizontal bar/rod that moves both wipers together had come apart. Not the best tech explanation I know.

Anyone else had this happen?

It seems to be just a push together join held by rubber gromets or similar unless a bit has fallen off. Has the rubber just perished, do I need to replace the whole thing or can a new rubber be fitted. Costs for parts would be great. Really any inout appreciated :)

I can get pics tomoz if it helps make what Ive typed make sense

Mrs_G is on her third wiper mechanism. Its a reasonable design (my Iveco van is very similar and original at 381,000 miles) but it would appear the Doblo version uses inferior materials.

If you do buy a new mechanism complete (inc motor) expect to pay about £75. If your fiat dealer wants too much try your local Iveco dealer - ours sells Fiat vans as well and the part are often cheaper from them than from the local Fiat dealer.

Thanks for the replies.
Im around 2hrs from the dealership I bought the car from last month (Its the nearest). I'll be phoning them on monday to see if they will do it under the warranty I got with the car, hope so. At least now I have a bit of knowledge behind me, ty.

Well I spoke to the dealership today and they say its covered under warranty and will replace it while I wait tomoz. Hope it lasts a while this time

This happens so often I think it is worth writing to Fiat to complain. This is a design/manufacturing fault that persists, and shouldn't.
Fiat needs to know people are fed up.
I haven't written, but will; cc to Turin too.

Got mine done at the dealership, bout 45mins and done.
Also go tthem to look at the rear door catches (not holding the doors open) and they say it needs new linkages also but not covered under warranty. I spoke to the salesman and he spoke to his boss and they have said they will do it under warranty but have to order in the parts. Wipers seem to be fine now :)

Thanks again for all the input.
