hi all

my 04 JTD has a problem with the clock in the dash. its running fast by about 15mins per week. is this a common problem and is it easily fixed?

also, i am looking for a 3 roofbar roofrack. a couple of company's list a suitable system for the cargo, but are the 6 mounting holes in the same place on the MPV?

thanks in advance

russ

wow the clock one has me there!!

as for the roof bars i brought mine for my 05 doblo mpv off ebay listed for the doblo i believe they are the same fitment for both as the identical bodyshell :)

hope that is some help :p

Clock:

According to Albert Einstein time slows down the faster you go.

As your clock appears to be running fast it could be that you are driving the Dobin too slowly??? :D

i know this post is a year old but my '04 doblo 1.9 cargo can't keep time either.

the mpg reader only works for about 5 minutes too.

Hi Rich

The clock is controlled by a quartz crystal and is very accurate (compared to an old fashioned wind-up clock!). However, all quartz crystals exhibit an "aging" process. This "aging" directly affects the accuracy of the clock and is a function of the "quality" of the crystal. Over time the fundamental frequency of the crystal reduces (the clock slows down) - this happens to all quartz crystal controlled equipment. "Quality" equipment is less suspestible to this as the base crystal is better quality and there is likely to be better frequency compensation circuitry.

So, in conclusion, without a "Rugby" radio compensated atomic clock receiver, then our basic Doblo cheap clock is about as good as it gets!

I hope this helps!

mine loses over an hour a day

why would my mpg reader stop working too?

could it be faulty electrics rather than just the crystal?

Hi

Sounds to me like you have two unrelated faults. The clock would appear to definately have a fault which seems like the clock crystal has failed. Without seeing the Doblo schematic for the electronic systems I think that you need to replace the clock module (cheap fix?). The mpg computer failure could be something simple like a wiring or connector fault. However, if the clock turns out to be fed by the central computer (ECU) then this could be expensive. Difficult to diagnose remotely! Perhaps somone with intimate knowlege of this system could enlighten us?
