Radio size in Doblo 07 Combi

Morning All,

I want to change the CD/mp3 in my doblo for a Radio/DVD type car system, the problem is that space available in the slot seems limited (face area wise) has anyone tried this and got any tips/ideas?

Have to admit, I'm not overly happy with the amount of room inside that little plastic pod.
Why couldn't they have made it wider so that instead of fitting inside the grooved area, (where all the dust et5c collects) it could cover it.
Also, why couldn't they have made the top flat - so you can stand a cup or can on there? (nowhere to put my coffee when I take a flask).
I have considered ripping the pod out & replacing with something made from mdf & painted up but just never got around to making anything.
Tried looking at alternatives but not seen anything similar that would make a suitable housing.

this really annoys me too. I'd love to be able to put a cup down on top of the dash like you can in most cars but all the surfaces are rounded and those cup holders are too small for a cup from a flask and they're too low anyway.

They are fine for a can of fizzy but useless otherwise, as for the indents on the door of the glovebox - neither use nor ornament.

Cheers for the answers guys, I am taking the "ugly bugger" in for her first service tomorrow, will ask the Fiat guys if there is any chance of getting one of the larger 2din slot modules.... lets face it, the place I brought it was less than 1000m from FIAT HQ here in Turin, Italy ;-)..
