Cold starting problem

I'm having trouble starting the Doblo first thing. It feels like the battery is flat and is slow cranking the engine over. Sometimes i loose the display, time and trip. It has never not started but that has maybe to come.
I also notice that the glow plug light doesn't show for 5 or six second after starting anymore.
Any ideas? The battery is 15 months old and maintenance free.
After it is warm starting is no problem.

Re: Cold starting problem

battery check first port of call , does your battery have the colour indicators to show electrolyte condition ie green for good!

It might be your alternator not charging your battery fully.
Charge might be disapatting over night.
Check alternator charge with a voltmeter and battery first faults for most.

Re: Cold starting problem

Hi, sorry but how did you find out it was the starter motor - it's just that I am having the same problems with my 51 reg 1.9D doblo cargo, and the glow plug light flashes for 60 secs after start up, its been like that since I bought it 1 year ago, and i'm sure this means the glow plugs are needing replacing. I decided to see if it would make it through the winter and it did fine. - but only now in the middle of summer it has started to struggle starting up first thing. I was going to get the glow plugs replaced next week but now reading this thread I'm thinking it may be the starter motor? - any ideas?
