I was looking in Halfords for a pair of new wipers. They sell Bosch wipers for £12 for the drivers side and £9 for the passenger side. A bit pricey I thought.
I had a look on ebay and MNC Autos sell the same Bosch wipers for £10.74 inc post. That's for both wiper blades :eek:. A bit better than £21, and you'd have to drive to Halfords so there's fuel costs on top.
I bought them and they arrived the next day too.
How much profit must Halfords be making on each wiper if an independent spares shop can sell them for much less than half the price :confused:
 
its company profit margins. they will have a average profit margin.

so say for example they want to make an average of 50% over the whole range. you have to make more profit on the things that cost less to the company to counteract the little profit on things like satnavs to keep there prices competitive.

MNC Autos in manchester are great for wipers had 2 pairs off them the latest were the newer flat blade type, have to say very impressed cost was about 12.50 for a 22" and a 18" blade easy fit better less smearing!

For the price they charge, it is better to replace once or twice a year than mess about with smeared glass.
Sometimes, I have to change a couple of times a year if the summer is really hot - I've seen rubber wipers melting to the glass some years!
