Hi, I'm a newbie to this great site and hope you can help. I have a 2003 Doblo Cargo which usually runs fine. About 2 months ago the engine management warning light started to come on when approaching a roundabout (when slowing down), engine would then stall. Restarted engine and ran fine. EMWL would sometimes come on when driving (with no change to steering/running), but stopping and restarting the engine would make it go off. At the time this was an intermittent problem, but now occurs at every roundabout/traffic lights unless and approach very slowly. More recently EMWL comes on when driving, van loses power (even on pressing the accelorator harder) and then van stalls. Restart engine and van continues on with no warning lights on. Van has been put into 2 garages (not taken it to a Fiat Dealer so far) who have changed oil filter, air filter, ? fuel pump (not sure if they actually did this or just talked about it) and van still is not better - garages have no idea what to do next or what is wrong it it:bang:. I am worried about putting it into another garage for them to fix things which are not the problem. All experience/knowledge/solutions would be appreciated so that the I can let the next garage know what they are supposed to do to fix it. Thanks

Thanks for this thread - very helpful. I will take it to a Fiat Dealer - this sounds like a common problem with Doblos. Thanks again.:)

I had this problem with my doblo, and it was traced to the fuel pump which was quoted at roughly £600 + labour , so you would know if the garage had replaced your fuel pump or not cause you would have a massive bill to pay :)
I ended up selling van as sapres or repairs rather than getting it fixed. I had already had new injectors fitted as well which seemed to cure the problem for a short while.

i had this prob i found it to be exhaust prob, it had to be ran for ten mins in third or secound gear but travelling at least 40 miles an hour then found light went out and ran fine, that was advice from th aa, cleans the particulate filter

Hi All.
I have an 08 plate 1.9 multijet, 75,000 miles. At about 73,000 miles it would cut out for a split second every 8-15 miles. the engine light and various warning lights would come on. Eventually it died completely. The AA towed it to the dealer that I purchased it new from. The problem was that the earth from the ecu to the main relay had corroded and was missing. A new wire was soldered into place. My bill was £377.65. I was told that the wire is mounted in a rediculous place, and collects moisture easily, causing corrosion.
As the car was just out of warranty, I called Fiat UK and they didn't want to know. But I will be pursuing this matter.:bang:

:bang: Talked to XXXXX (I think that's how you spell his name)at Fiat UK today. He said that he had called the Fiat dealer in question, he said that nobody there had told me that the wire was mounted in a stupid place. I know what I was told. Someone is seriously "BULLS******G" here.
FIAT!!!! WHAT TRIPE!!!! I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER!!!! CERTAINLY WON'T RECOMMEND TO OTHERS!!!!(n)

Hi There,
I have a Burstner Travel Van with ducato engine ,chassis etc .It was bought brand new 2 years ago and has only done c.5000 kms.In june 2010 we lent it to close friends and the engine died 3 times with fuel starvation symptoms. Also the fuel gauge was showing two thirds full when completely filled .The fault was intermittent and resolved itself after several minutes.I took it to my local Fiat agent in France who couldn't find the problem and assured me it would be o.k.after service on 23 June .We couldn't start it on first subsequent outing on 18 th Sept to go on holiday in Italy. The pump was making a sucking noise for about 15 seconds. It started then stalled several times-clearly the same problem with diesel fuel supply/ injection.
The van was recovered to the same fiat agent a week ago and I've heard nothing! There seems to be a worrying number of references on internet to similar problems, with many different theories [fuel pump, rail diesel injectors, seal leaks etc]In any event Fiat local garages don't seem to be able to guarantee a permanent solution.Any advice would be appreciated.Patrick:bang:
