Hi peeps,

I am having problems with my wipers, and sounds like a common problem by the looks of things, and I am trying too avoid paying over a hundred quid to replace the whole mechanism, when the motor works fine...

I found on a previous thread that the genuine Fiat fix for the faulty wiper mechanism is to simply drill through and fit a split pin where it comes apart.

Can anyone back this up and does it work and last, because the Fiat mechanic at my local dealership said that he has never heard of it and rekons that he would have to take the whole mechanism out in order to do it and this would come in at about 75 quid, and he doubts it would last for very long...

Your thoughts and inputs are very much appreciated :D

Do a search for "wiper" under the Doblo section, I'm sure the whole split pin thing has been done before and has worked...

Might be worth doing a whole forum search too as I've definitely seen it somewhere :)

An AA man removed the plastic socket from the wiper part of the linkage on mine and held the parts together with a valve clip from a 1990s Nissan. It hasn't broken since, just clicks a little if using wipers at 70mph+. Much better than the excessively high price to pay for the part, most of which is not needed as the motor isn't broken!
