I own a croma 1991 2.0 ie engine. For two weeks I have a problem with my engine. I have a gas instalation on my car. My engine is on 140 000km. When I run it on gas everything is ok, but when I switch and start to drive using benzin, the engine is lacking power until 3000 rpm. This occurs only when the engine is cold. After reaching 70-80 C everything is ok. I have a tool showing fuel consumption. When the engine is cold and driving on benzin, when I step the peddal just a little bit and try to accelerate, the consumption goes to max into red zone, and the feeling is like my handbrake is pulled. And my fuel consumption is way high now. I am doing a good maintainance of the engine- changing regullary the filters, oil and other stuff. Any ideas?

The fact that it only affects the running when the engine is a) running on petrol and b) cold suggests that it is most likely something to do with the cold start enrichment.

I'd start by checking the temperature sensor. Then the wiring to the temperature sensor. When I had a 2.0 ie Tempra one of the sensor wires broke where it connected to the sensor, caused by vibration and pooly secured wiring loom.
