After several years, well 5 to be more precise my Fiat Croma is finally back in my garage.

It still needs alot of work, and I need to find a fair few parts (mainly interior fittings) to bring her up to new.

If you know of anyone wrecking a Croma PLEASE let me know so I can organise to collect some parts for the interior.

Hehe!
Where's it been?

Ten years ago I used to have a Croma of a similar type, except mine was silver, and had a rusty tailgate that I replaced with a blue one I painted silver. I think I painted the bumpers too, think they were all-black on the earlier model.

This Croma (bought for NZ$500 and replacing my $3000 Tipo) started a love affair that extended through a Lancia Thema and on to four 164s - I still have two of the 164s...

Well it died a horrible death back in 2005, basicly the motor gave up and the transmission went as well as alot of electrical problems. So I put it in storage for a few years, as I just didnt have the money to fix it. Then after about 2 years I forgot about her for a while, till my dad found a mechanic who was willing to do some work on it. So we sent it to the guy, was there 6months getting motor and tranny rebuilt. Also had the brakes redone as well.

Now I just gotta track down a new radiator and couple other little things and I can get her paintwork touched up, interior redone and road rego'd as my sunday cruiser.

I spent half of lastnite sitting in my garage looking at my 88 Croma and 08 Bravo side by side with one hell of a big grin. Both cars look so sexy and side by side they are almost the same size yet somehow the Croma has sooooooooooooo much more internal space.

You don't see many Croma's around these parts, they sold so few of them. Nice to see you fixing it up.

It's amazing how cars have grown in size over the years. The Bravo's equivalent back in 88 was the Fiat Tipo and the Croma sat above it in the model range. It's hard to believe that they were $45k brand new back then.

Ive got my Croma & Ritmo (Bravo 08) side by side and they are both the same size, yet the Croma has twice the interior space still... go figure. Sadly its also got more comfitable seats and more boot space lol.

Yeah the Croma boot is huge. And they have heaps better all round vision than the Bravo.

All these crash safety regulations are resulting in cars which are getting larger outside for not much improvement in interior space, and ironically they are getting harder to see out of.

Troy, I agree with you. I have always loved the Croma. Its a nice big cheap Fiat in my view. There is a white one and a grey one for sale for over 3 months on carsales.com.au. Dont know whats wrong with it or its just overpriced. Keep your Croma going mate. I love them. Couldnt find a decent Croma when I was looking so bought the Regata.

NoRC, cheers to you for keeping the Croma alive! It must be pretty hard for you guys over there to find parts or service for these cars.

It's a cool car and cooler still that you have fixed it up (y) I wish you many safe miles with your Croma.

Greetings from Holland,
Croma Dirk
