Hi guys/girls, I'm in need of a gear box for my croma 1.8 petrol (2005). I' can't seem to find one anywhere but I hear it is the same gear box as a Vauxhall vectra. Can anyone help by telling me which model vectra / part number (etc etc) this is so that I can get one ordered. Many thanks

Why do you need a new gearbox?

The 1.8 Petrol has the following gearbox.

Type: C543 (F17)

Ratios:

1 : 3.727
2 : 2.136
3 : 1.414
4 : 1.121
5 : 0.892
6 : N/A
R : 3.308

In the table (page down) the exact matching Opel/GM box is the F17(+)CR MG4

* = The RPO codes M79 and MG4 indicate only the gear set (CR or WR), but not the transmission type. A differentiation of the transmission types using the RPO codes was introduced later.

A google suggests the following:

Vectra C 1.8 16v (Z18XER) - F17+CR, 3,74 (gearbox)

Vectra C Vectra C 1.8 16v (Z18XER) sounds/looks about right but you will need to do a little more research yourself to be certain.

I went to a lot of time and trouble (especially as I no longer religiously follow this Croma forum and no longer own one) to research the gearbox info.

Sorry, I would have explained if I thought it was nessesary. I don't want to pass the problem onto someone else which is why I'm trying to find out what Part I need to get. Ur helping me to help someone else as it would only become a problem for them to sort
