Well I guess it's all been going too well with my 1.9 8v Croma for the last few months but I've now got a second problem in a few days.

It won't rev over 2k rpm and the check engine light is on.

MES reported a fault with the MAP so I cleaned the old one, no difference so I changed it for a new one still no change.

The oil counter was reset last weekend when I changed it, the dpf has normal clogging and there are no other errors.

Does anyone have any ideas about what I can check next?

If I unplug the MAP or the MAF works fine for a few seconds and then limp mode kicks in again. It's the original MAF and I cleaned the egr a couple of months ago.

Does this have the inlet manifold swirl flaps.? Check the operating rod is connected and that it moves ok. I think they usually cycle once each time the ignition is turned on and off.

Not as far as I know. I think the 150bhp does but not the 120.

Hi Robert
it does it whether cold or hot and the code comes back after I've reset them using mes.

The exact code is P0403 egr valve egr recirculation circuit malfunction. the ecu did not receive a signal from the sensor.

as soon as I clear it it comes back.

hi Robert, both hot and cold.

The problem seems to be because the connector on the end of the egr sensor is slightly loose. I guess I must have touched when I was changing the boost sensor :(

I've got it cable tied in place just now using three ties around the egr to hold it I place until I can find a new connector from somewhere.

It's definitely the electrical connector that's working slightly loose and breaking the signal to the egr.

It's held in place with cable ties and gasket just now but I'll need to try and find the part number for the replacement connector.

Find a scrappy breaking a Croma on eBay and get a price for the plug with 6" of cut off wire. Should be cheaper than a new one and you don't need the special crimp tool to fit it. Just solder into existing loom.
