Well the time has come and I have taken the decision to P/ex the Croma :(. It has only 43000 on the clock but at 8 yrs old and me getting increasingly unable to do the jobs on it other than top ups etc it had to go.
I am not however going mainstream with my next car (Ssangyong Korando). As a retired person I have to watch the pennies:D and this was good value (18000 mls 2012. Heated leather alround etc)
The dealer (Car People) reckon the Croma will go through an auction in Wakefield if anybodies interested.

I will hang onto the manual I got off E-bay until somebody on here wants it and we can arrange to meet to hand it over, postage will be silly priced so I want to donate it to someone who needs it;)

bunch of quitters in this section :p

whats the ncap on a Ssangyong Korando? there was a big 4x4 looking thing made by Ssangyong a few years back that looked like it was built like a tank, but disintergrated in crash tests

To add a bit of continuity it was designed by the the same Italian bloke who designed the Croma . The old Korando was a tank:D as they have been making military vehicles since the Korean War.
Its also a great towing car as its the towcar of the year in its class with the caravan club.
We all know it will happen sometime , but the choice to replace the Croma has been a long search and lots of test drives / jousts with car salesmen ( which I have quite enjoyed being a pedant:p ).

I will report back on how it drives etc in a couple of weeks.

Dear tarquin1867
Realy sorry to see you go, lots of luck with your new car.

As promised here is my opinion on the Ssangyong Korando i`ve swopped for my Croma.

WOW!!!- just got back from a few days fishing in the caravan and all is great. As the car is 175bhp manual (61 reg) its slightly different to the present day manuals as they are 150bhp, 175bhp are used in the automatics 4wd.
Mine is only 2wd but tows like good un . :D If anybody is looking for a tow car to replace the Croma this is it, god knows what the 4wd will tow like but the 2wd manual made short work of the infamous 30-60 test on motorways and I have done 190miles towing on A roads and M1 and refilled the tank and got 38.95mpg -- outstanding:p

Has anyone seen the old Croma on the Wakefield auction yet WN56ETU 16v 47000.
Would recommend it to anyone who`s interested(y)

you should try a lake, river or the sea i don't think you will catch many in a caravan

Already caught fish from inside the van , well the awning actually, during a rain storm.
Cannot fish from inside the van because the Mem Sahib wont have maggots in the van!!! Strange attitude I know but --- you know the score:p

Hi also decided to jump ship after 8 years of owning a Croma, and guess what? Yes I've also chosen a SsangYong Korando SE4. Been a Fiat owner for over 40 years but they no longer offer a suitable car to pull the caravan. The Korando offers good value for money,so will report back in a few months to let you know how it goes.

Yes it is a big struggle to get a Fiat car now for caravan towing.

The 500L/MPW/Trekking can tow 1000Kg or 1100kg for 1.6 diesel.

Interestingly I went into a Fiat Commercial Professional dealer today. They have cracking offers on all the Fiat van range, even down to the humble Punto van.

Croma Man to Van Man. And just for weekend fun you park up in a laybay/roadside with some magnetic speed camera signs stuck on the back and enjoy the fear in the motist eyes as they speed by :)
