I just had the ATF changed on my 2.4 Croma at a professional transmission shop. First change, 50000 miles. They drained and flushed the box completely and filled with 8 liters of Volvo original ATF which I think is now Castrol. After 100 km of driving I heard a strange sound from the gearbox. It sounds like a bad bearing. When raising the car with a jack and spinning a front wheel it sounds terrible from the gearbox and it continues for a while when stopping the wheel, hence it is not a bad wheel bearing. What has happened? Any idea?

It was a wheelbearing after all. These gearboxes will last forever according to the shop!

just done both front bearings on mine.Ive posted on here before about a gearbox noise i had,never fixed it.completley different noise than a bearing noise though.
