Hi there, I am after having my Croma serviced and have the Cambelt and other bits done at the same time. In the past on other vehicles I have done this, but to be honest, I'm getting too old to be laying under the engine getting covered in oil and running the risk of doing it all wrong. So, I live in Surrey, well Epsom, so other than Wilsons can anyone recommend a good garage where I won't get ripped off from and will do a good job ?? I live in hope !! Thanks :)

Hi, the Croma section is a pretty quiet place..;)

have trawl through the Garages section,
:idea:eek:therwise , a FIAT /Alfa indy should be a great starting point,

How many miles has the car done? I ask because if it is over 50k you are best advised to have the water pump and idler roller changed at the same time. Water pump and idler bearings have been known to fail at around 70k miles flipping the belt and b*gg*ring the valves. Water pumps are approx £70.

Iv`e been lucky enough to have an independent ex - Vauxhall - to do mine and was lucky enough to catch the water pump as it was starting to weep. I also was lucky enough to pay more for the parts than the labour!!!!

Thanks all (y), the cars done 46,000 ish miles its a 2006 year. Would be worth traveling a bit to get a good service and if I can get it all done for under £500 that would fine. :)

Well I have saved my pennys, and have looked around for a garage. Unfortunatly poweritalia is too far. So searching for Fiat/Alfa I was sent the quote below. What do people think ??

Fullservice with a/c regas add £260+ vat
Cambelt, tensioner and idler bearing fitted including parts and labour is £299 + VAT
Add £45 +VAT for a water pump fitted and £67.50 + VAT for the auxiliary belt andtensioner fitted.
All partsin stock. ORIGINAL PARTS ONLY USED. Job takes approx. 3.5 hours.

Euro car parts are listing the following:-
Cambelt kit inc tensioners/idlers-£80 inc vat
Water pump:- £30inc vat
Aux drive belt:- £10 inc vat

The only thing I would agree with in your estimate is the 3.5hrs to do the job:eek:

I would look round for a local independent, it is a "standard" job for most mechanics. Just tell them to do it by removing the wheel arch cover(y)(y)
