Hi,

Having, over the last year, replaced the alternator, bananna arms and thermostat I've learned that not much is simple to do on the Croma !

I now need to replace the rear springs and would appreciate advice on the "easiest" way from anyone who has done them already. Looks quite tight for using spring compressors ? Don't suppose just disconnecting shock will let allow enough clearance ? Thanks.

The easiest and quickest way is to drop the lower arm as just undoing the shock won't give you enough clearance to get the new spring in. I only did mine the other week and it was done in 10 mins.

Total agree but mark the bolt up so that it goes back in the right place as this adjusts the back end and i use a tow rope rapped it around the opposite wheel and got a long screw driver and on the end going back together rotated it to pull the leg in as getting the bolt back in was a pain in the arse lol good luck

Thanks. Yeah dropped the lower arm as advised and easy enough after that.
Much better than trying to get spring compressors on in the tight space.

Replaced front exhaust flexi pipe and checked cvs etc. while at it. Drivers side inner joint on driveshaft has quite a lot of wear. Another days work !

There is no need to disturb the lower arm. Take the weight on a jack, remove the bottom SA bolt and lower the arm and the spring will come out.

Dont forget to go with the fix that Chris T came up with on the drive shaft. Vauxhall are better than Fiat here:cry:. Look up the the thread regarding this and go for it.(y)
