Hi all,

As said in my newbie thread we're getting our first Fiat ever. I'm Sevenzins from the Netherlands.
Hopefully tomorrow we're the proud owners of a 2005 Fiat Croma 2,2 16V dynamic edition. It's done about 80K miles and it's got all the bell and whistles except the satnav, bluetooth, coulour screen thingy.
I was wondering how much work it is to mount a towbar under (on) it. Has someone done this on this type of car??

I fitted my swan neck to my 1.9 8v Croma. and I would say give yourself a day for the bar itself and a day for the electrics.
The bar went on quite easily but care needs to be taken when removing the bumper. There are 2 special long bolts just behind the rear lights but tucked away in the small body cavity. I dropped one inside the cavity and have never been able to find it again. Luckily I was able to make a replacement from some loose parts I had lying around. Follow the instructions and you will be ok. You will need to cut the bumper. Again take your time.
The electrics I found to be the most awkward. I tried to find a connection inside the car to the fuse box but space is so tight I decided to feed direct to the battery by routing the cable and sheathing through the central support structure under the car, up into the engine bay, and connected to the battery via an inline fuse. Care needs to be taken to ensure the cable does not snag on moving parts or is too close to the exhaust. I gained entry to the boot via the boot floor by drilling into the spare tyre well and sealing with silicon.
 
All done.


There was a specialist company who had a sort of discount thing with towbars. Including fitting etc.
