Question for those technically minded, being new to Fiat diag software (but experienced with several other makes). I have reset the oil change interval in engine (this has a dpf) and have reset the date of service in the 'service computer' section. BUT, I cannot get it to change the days till next service or the km till next service, it just says 'error' when I go to.

So when I look at the measurements, it's still saying it's a load of days since service and got 28k to go till it needs one - which is all wrong.

Any advice in resetting this?

Greg.

I've also done mine OK.

The VAG / KKL cable can only reset the Oil Change information.

The service information is CAN module based so and ELM / CAN interface is required.

Also on the Croma you can set the service coupons number and the service date but you can not set the next service mileage if I remember correctly.

I think the Service Interval ECU/Body Computer software is a pure annual/365 days threshold and the oil change threshold is 18k miles.

This is what I seem to remember.

When I did my first service of the Croma I used the early FiatECUScan & KKL only software to reset the oil change. My local friendly garage owner let me borrow fit SnapOn kit an I did multiple Service Resets so I would never get that warning again.

Later on, after FiatECUScan/MultiECUScan supported the CAN based Croma Service function then when I did the next service I reset the remaining coupons and date.

Bottom line.

I believe you can only set remaining coupons, last service date and do an oil reset. I don't think you can set/force any given mileage service trigger.

One caveat. It is nearly a year since I last played/used these functions so can not be 100% sure about what I have said.

Only the oil change one matters, as the DPF gets clogged if it's not done.. Just ignore the service reminder and it will go away.

So what I am gathering is that you can't alter the days to service/miles to service. that's a shame, on the VW group cars if I am breaking an engine in I can set miles to at 5,000 or recode a longlife vehicle to 365 days - basically do whatever I want. So are you guys saying the best bet is to reset in engine the oil change (done) and in service the date of service last (done) and reset the service tokens to 0 so that the dash doesn't get involved? Shame as I'm used to on VAG vehicles the service computer alterting the driver at whatever I have set it, normally 10,000 miles/1yr.

In what mode and where in the menu of the registered version of multi scan do you reset ECU to tell the car the oil has been changed recently ? I bought a 2.4 Prestigo to play with, its last oil change was 10,000 miles ago but I have no idea when the oil change in the ECU was last re-set. Thx David

Connect to the Engine ECU.

Open the Adjustments Tab [F7]

Top of the list is: Oil Change (only for version with DPF)

Supporting Text:

This procedure updates the parameters relating to the engine oil quality in the control unit.
This procedure is necessary every time the engine oil is replaced on vehicles with DPF filter and when the 'low oil pressure' led blinks in the dashboard.
Turn the key OFF and wait 60 seconds after successfull execution of this procedure to let the ECU reset its internal registers.

Dear Croma drivers,
Never had a problem with resetting the oil change counter from my 16V Multijet 150 PS Croma 2008. Today after pressing execute the counter did not step from 6 to 7. Got the message "failed to reset". Is this the end of the cyclus? Please let me know the solution for this problem.

Clarification Required.

The Croma has two service related resets.

1) Basic Service Counter on the MES/cars Service Computer Node. This has a 10 (0 to 9 or 9 to 0 count if I remember correctly) range/scope. Once the 10th service has been carried out the car will never prompt for a service again unless you force a reset.

2) On/under the engine ECU there is a separate oil change reset that is applicable to the oil mileage (as determined by the ECU and engine stress). This is tied/applicable to diesel Cromas fitted with DPF filters. To my knowledge there is no count/duration/time limit associated with this function.

With regards to 2) it is a common garage mistake to ignore the separate oil change/DPF reset. Also, more confusingly the Service warning/reset can ad does appear in many cases long before the SEPARATE ECU/DPF related oil change is flagged/required.
