can you buy the flexi for the exhaust pipe from anywhere but main dealer? mine is blowing and need new one any prices???
1.9 eleganza diesel 2005

The back box at least is Vauxhall, so probably a good guess that the rest is. Worth a google anyway, you should find some pictures to compare.

i really wasnt sure. the guy at the exhaust place said the flexi looks the same as vectra but when he called car parts place and have reg, they said not and its fiat only.. didnt get a price though

Ours was replaced with a Vauxhall one.

This will probably fit. Check you have a 3 bolt flange at each end.

p.s. make sure you get it fixed. Ours nuked the particulate filter because it couldn't fully clear it as the hot gasses were partially escaping through the hole in the flexible. This in turn nuked the turbo because it was almost constantly regenerating. You have been warned!

Yes i replaced my flexi on my 2.4.£170.00 of Fiat agent.Another cheaper way, which i didnt do but should have because of the 10 day wait for the new pipe is to replace just the flexi material with easily available of the shelf flexi for about £20.00.Ive kept my flexi pipe to do just this to it.Probably never will though.

I've found before that parts places seem to list a Fiat part and a Vauxhall part as two separate part numbers, even though they are in fact identical. They obviously aren't aware of the relationships between these cars.

It seems that everyone knows a Saab 9-3 was a Vectra in disguise, but GM did own Saab at the time so people can understand it. Most people aren't aware that Fiat and GM Europe almost merged before GM ran off with the Abba records and Multijet blueprints (which IMO is all they were ever after anyway - the Multijet I mean).

Well I can confirm that the 1.9 / Vectra flexi pipe will definitely not fit the 2.4 (n)

Ended up welding the new flexi section on to the old pipe (which was fun if you like that sort of thing, luckily my father-in-law has his own oxy-acetylene rig and knows how to use it) so all back together and leak-free. Getting the nuts off the DPF end was unpleasant, ended up grinding one side off them and then splitting them with a chisel.

As a nice bonus, the car is running better now too (y)

Flexible pipes are available from factors. Give them the size of the engine side. The cat side is larger and you will need to sleeve the joint. Cut the old flex out with a grinder. I had to use three clamps. One to clamp the new flex to the down pipe and one to hold the sleeve into the cat and one to clamp the flex to the sleeve. The sleeve was made from a piece to the old flex.

Just to confirm that for the 8v and 16v 1.9 m/jet Croma's the flex down pipe its the same as 1 of the 2 types fitted to the Vectra C model. Just make sure you get the 1 for the Vectra 1.9 CDTi which has the flanges at both ends as the other 1 includes the DPF/Cat and has no joint in between. Vauxhall price is £112 but as we all know aftermarket ones are available from about £36 + postage. It was hard to get the old 1 off the cat /DPF end though, garage had to use a oxi flame burner to get the studs out as they are not bolts you can grind the nuts off and knock through !

Latest bit of info, if u ask National Tyres and Exhausts for a 1.9 Croma flexi downpipe the cost is about £280 fitted. Its not their fault, they get charged a fortune for the pipe by their supplier as its special order only.

The threaded studs that join the flexi pipe to the DPF are actually attached to the DPF flange and go through the holes in the flange on the new flexi pipe. The main problem is that unless your car has been waxoiled from almost new the nuts will be rusted solid to the end of the threaded studs. I have been told that somtimes these studs just snapp off the end of the DPF, even after heating them up.

My flexi has started to blow on my 2.4, so it will need replacing soon. Does anyone know the difference between the 1.9 and 2.4 flexi? The diagram for the Vauxhall part looks identical to the one on my car.

About £120.00 :D

The FIAT part number you require is 51752098. Vauxhall never used the 2.4 engine so there will not be a corresponding GM part.

It may be better to get your local garage to weld a new flexi into the existing pipe. These can be bought for about £30.

Thanks for the link, but they don't list the 2.4, unless I'm doing something wrong! I take it that the 1.9 and 2.4 only share the exhaust from the DPF back? I did ask the garage, but they weren't confident about the lifespan of universal flexi. I will measure the pipe diameter and see what's available.

I had mine changed today. I can confirm that the following is the right part for at least the 1.9 16v:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110842020...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_2560wt_1139

The mounting bracket is different though, but the old bracket was perfectly fine and solid so was swapped over. The old one is much more substantial than the one that comes with it.

This was the best price I could find online for one that includes the gaskets: £48.95 including delivery. It arrived next day too. Photo attached.

I had it fitted at a local independent garage. Only one problem - it was rubbing on the sump. The mechanic said this is pretty common with aftermarket parts. They heated and bent it further away and it's fine. An excellent job well done, for which they charged a very reasonable £74.26 inc VAT.

So all sorted for the total of £123.21

The flexi joint on the old one was black and sooty from the leak. We had two regens while it was leaking, and it was pretty alarming (and smelly). It's also quieter now (the old one must have been leaking for ages).

It's made by this company...

I found a bargain on eBay! Radlet6 is correct in his £30 estimate for flexi, but I found some on a special price at £12.95 + £2.95 postage. Not bad for a proper weld in stainless steel flexi. It arrived the next day - one of my better eBay experiences! The size I needed for the 2.4 was 60mm inside diameter and 250mm (10") in length. The actual flexi part is 8" long. My local garage are going to fit it for £40 :D

Had mine done this morning, 55mm SS weld in piece with labor 4200 din which is about 34 british pounds. Work took about 40 min.

It's probably apt for E u r o f l o - the general online opinion seems to be that they're cheap rubbish and never fit properly. It looked solid enough though, so it should last now it's been forced into the shape it should have been.
