Hi I have a Fiat Croma 2.2. Prestigio. It seems to have a severe electronic failure. Over the past two weeks the dashboard kept switching off and whilst driving randomly and now it wont start. When the key is turned I get a "CAMCHECK" message onthe radio and the dash wont switch on. I then waited a while and tried again and it worked for a while until it died on me, the dashboard going bezurk then nothing and again CAMCHECK. Please help as it's my daily car and I can't seem to understand what's wrong with it.

I recently had a nokia bluetooth device put in but it is a straight plug radio sockets out then in the black box then back into the back of the radio, no cowboy splicing of wires simple plug and play. If there was a problem here why would it mess the main ECU?

Urgent advice needed prior to going to the stealers off warranty.:cry::cry:

that would most likely be CANCHECK
the CAN system isnt to be messed with
Ive never had much dealings with CAN equipped cars
hopefully someone will be along soon

Short of plugging in diagnostic kit in to read any prooblems or errors then I would suggest

1) check battery terminals are clean and not corroded
2) check the main battery to chassis earth/-ve cable strap for good clean solid connectio to chassis
3) test the battery or preferrably substitute another battery to eliminate any battery issue

If its straight plug in nokia kit, try unplugging it to see if it makes a difference. The radio is part of the can system and if its wired wrong on it maybe the car CAN thinks its trying to be stolen and disabling starting.

I had just such an experience when my alternator went tits up and as it went down in stages it threw me off the track originally. Sounds like yours may be very similar. The Prestigio does have slightly different electric circuit set ups and it strikes me that if you have had work done the add on may have a permanent on which could be draining the battery? I agree with notorius , unplug it and see if it goes away.
