Technical brakes worn out light

thats the place i was looking last night, i cant find many reviews of the brembo stand stuff though, not sure if its extra good or just same as local motor factors standard stuff but with added £ just for the brembo name

The rear (Apec DSK2385 292mm) I picked-up local – but backed-into-a-corner with the front, as they’re vented & I believe unique to model.

I’ve found my notes from Nov2010 giving possible alternatives …

Apec DSK2596
Ate 24.0128-0185.1
Bosch 0 986 479 325 142
Brakeworld RS0040
Brembo 09.9399.14
EBC D1335
Marelli (?)
Pagid (?)
Mintex X
QH BDC5694
TRW DF4475

… but please re-check!

been on the phone to them and the cheaper pads they list for a 1.9 are the 16v ones so its all good :)

Think my pads were Apec PAD1500 & PAD1506.

Rear disc notes read …

Brembo looks GOOD, me like:), yes there should be a metal hat over the nut, pull some of a vec c @ breaker's yard.

the other side is being a pain in the arse, i only have a 3/8 inch drive E20 socket, my breaker bar is 1/2 drive, i had an adapter that snapped, i use one of them sliding bar type drives things with a pole attached, i broke the bar, so i went to machine mart in colchester and bought a new 3/8 breaker bar as they told me they dont sell 1/2 drive female torque sockets only on line ( i looked on line after and found out they are stocked in store), that new breaker bar broke, i took it back and they said only the bar was garenteed for life, not the swivel bit that the socket goes on to, i said well i still want a refund as its not fit for purpose, idiots then reckoned i hadnt used it right, i had to leave the shop then before i hit one of them with it.

now mrs dave needed her car back so i am stuck with no transport and no tool :(

hi
over last two days i changed my discs and pads:

Front:
disc - EBC D1335
pads - Mintex MDB2754

Rear:
disc - Mintex MDC1675
pads - Mintex MDB2800

just a hint for anyone changing rears
to rewind the caliper i used just the angle grinder tool, it did the job with ease
just turn the piston clockwise while your helper is pushing it in with a pipe or something
it took about 30 to 45 minutes per corner

I've got that machinemart 3/8 socket set. The square 3/8 part on the T20 socket doesn't actually fit a 3/8 driver. Not impressed, especially since I went in for a 1/2 drive and like Dave was fobbed off with a 3/8 set.

I think the Croma was down to metal by then so I couldn't wait to order a set from online.

Want to replace my rear brake pads but don't know how to remove the folded spring that kept them in place. Caliper is allready untightened. Fiat Croma Multijet 150 BHP Build 2008
Please advise, many thanks in advantage

Dear Hellcat
Thanks for your quick reply
There is a drawing from the spring, but don't know how to put it in here.
Please click the link "rear brakes.pdf" in the reply called "Croma brake pads" from Radlet6, dd 02-02-2011 in the Croma forum.
Under the letter B are two brake pads and the spring or what ever it is called.
I have to remove that spring (article) before I can take the pads of, is n't it?
I can,t take the caliper of because the distance between the pads is to small to pass the lip on the outer edge of the rotor. Hope I made myselff clear. After watching your film I will try it this weekend ones more
Looking forward to your reply
Regards
Vento

What I did: untightened both screws holding the caliper, took the lowest one out and used the other as a turning point to wrench the caliper of with a long lever.
Thanks a lot for all the info I've got from all of you.

After I made myself a simple tool, I replaced rear brake pads and rotors with original Fiat parts. Found both pistons (left and right hand) need to turn clockwise to make space for the new pads. Reading different fora makes one confused about turning direction.

you're right, even eLearn wrongly states anticlockwise direction
