£20? The heated mirror glass was over £60 last time I looked.

Ah, my memory is definitely not what it was so I looked out the invoice. Part number for the driver's side was 71741315 and the price was £24.66 + VAT so under £30, not under £20 - sorry.

As for your other codes, reseating the throttle multiplug may help. 'Excessive EGR' warnings can be related to the Mass Airflow meter (MAF) so further invest may be required. Sounds like the control side of things has a problem - just got to find it :D

DPF regeneration can cause a 'rumble' from the rear of the car but you shouldn't notice this while driving at speed, and the regen should have completed after ten minutes or so.

If your EGR valve is stuck open then this can cause some of the symptoms you are describing but you should also have the yellow light on and have a 'check engine' caption. If the car has gone into 'limp home' mode you will have very limited acceleration.. Does the acceleration improve once the codes have been reset, and how long does it take for the codes to return?

As for code readers, there are plenty out there. I use a Scangauge which I got some time ago but everyone seems to have their favourites.

Do you only drive short(ish) journeys?

Just wondering if it's getting sooted up and trying to regenerate as soon as it gets warm, then journey finishes, saga starts again next journey.

If this is the case, go for a long drive. You need at least 20 minutes after the engine gets warm. Drive with some gusto, one gear lower than you'd normally use.

I had the same with mine at first when I got it. Garage told me to "drive it like I'd stolen it" for a bit. It worked for me.

In relation to the question Doofer posed

I do not drive like I have stolen it that is true
but I do between 50-100 miles a day
and the day it was really bad was on a long journey
thanks

Just to update everyone
garage could not find fault
the noise still comes and goes
but I have narrowed it down to be coming from right in front of me so to speak
facing the car it is top left
the garage could not replicate fault so they say
am at a loss now
fear big fiat bill on the way

Amanda:eek:

Hi everyone
Just an update
The noise was emanating from the fuel filter box
replaced fuel filter still no joy
lifted rubber pipe that was touching engine-noise disappeared
still comes back when accelerating but wonder whether another pipes is touching somewhere it should not
or is there a problem with fuel pump in tank or high pressure one or is it
something else?

Amanda

Now the noise appears before the engine is turning over
I switched the ignition on waiting for the plugs to warm up and the noise apppeared
any clues?
