Hi , does any one know the price for it ? I want to replace mine for a new set x4 , thanks

Hi 06, I have the original 4 wheels off mine, one has slight scuff, with Bridgestone Potenzas, more than half tread left, and centre badges, if this would help. A lot cheaper than new.

Hi 06, I would expect £200 for the set. The tread depth as follows (if it is legible)

L.... C ...R .....L ...C... R.... L... C... R .....L... C ...R

5.5 5.7 5.0 --6.5 6.0 5.0 --7.0 8.0 8.0-- 5.0 4.0 4.0

The car has done 27700 miles, and I got it at 23500. Wheels were changed about 25000.
As you see, I am in Cotswold area.
Hope this helps.
Keith

If either of you ends up with a spare single 18" wheel for sale then let me know. I'm still trying to get hold of a full-size spare for mine. Got a tyre already. Scuffed is fine, but not bent.

Keith;

did you manage to get what you were after for your wheels?

Hi, the wheels are still sitting happily? in my garage. Not been moved since, or offered. Any suggestions please?

Keith;

The reason I asked is that my car is coming up for a front tyre change in a couple of months and I was pondering the idea of running a spare set of wheels with winter tyres - I do 22000 miles a year and plan to keep my car for at least five years so it might be worthwhile.

Haven't decided whether the 18s or my 17s would make a better set of winter wheels though, it would probably be decided by tyre prices. The other sticking point is how to pick them up - I live quite a way from your neck of the woods.

Any thoughts would be welcome.

152 miles (near Spalding, Lincs). I'll be down your way in October but that's not a lot of use as my tyres won't last until then...

Hi, a bit far, any journeys in sight in this general direction? Must think of anyone trading in that direction also.

I will ask around, my sister-in-law lives in Cardiff so my father-in-law may be across that way at some point. I suppose the other option would be to put my front wheels on the rear, that way they should last a bit longer. We may be across that way in the summer holidays anyway, but in the meantime I'll make some enquiries.

If you could ask around at your end as well that that would be great, thanks. If all else fails I could get a courier to pick them up but I know from experience that 18" wheels weigh a lot and couriers tend to drop them

Hi Hi DoIDon'tI,
These wheels will need a large car or small van, I got the new ones in the croma, but a 5th wheel would have been more difficult. The turbo Theme I had 1n the 1990's would have carried them easily.

Understood, when I picked up the 17" wheels I've got now I managed to fit both them and a set of five 15" Hy**dai wheels in a Grand Scenic - wouldn't even have tried in a Croma. One set or the other - but not both. I personally find the access a bit limiting in the Croma, too much of a reach in for large / bulky loads for my liking.

It's sooooooo much nicer than a Grand Scenic to drive though :D

I got a full size spare in the end - a scuffed Signum or Astra one from good old ebay.

The reason I mention this is that I bought it from the other end of the country, even though the seller was offering collection only. I used www.parcel2go.com to collect the wheel from the seller and deliver it to me. They are in fact an agent for DHL, but they are cheaper than DHL directly.

I can't remember the exact price but it was certainly less than a tenner. The seller did happen to have the box for his new wheel though. Some creative cardboard engineering may be needed.

i've bought a set of vectra c 16" steel wheels, and i'm using them now with snow tyres

complete set of wheels from ebay - 62 pounds + 200 pounds for a set of winter tyres inc fitting

while i was quoted 540 pounds for JUST a set 18" winter tyres

so it's a better option

What model Croma do you have? I tried 16" wheels on mine but the 2.4 front discs etc left no clearance for balance weights on the inside of the rims, so I changed back to 17" ones.

I'm thinking of using 18" wheels in the summer and 17" in the winter - still depends on whether the ride is acceptable on the 18" wheels though. I'm still not certain it's the best way forward (getting 18" wheels) but was hoping Keith might prove flexible on price :D:D:D

My single genuine Vauxhall wheel, with scuffs and no centre cap, was £75.56 if that's any help (plus delivery cost). This was a no reserve auction. This seems to be about the normal price.

There always seems to be a baseline price for any alloys on ebay. I was wondering if scrap metal dealers are buying them to melt down. I don't know whether this makes financial sense but I didn't see any with no bids, no matter how obscure.

DIDI, my Prestigio resides at Wisbech on 18" wheels if you ever want to sample the ride. I must admit it is better since I had the rear spring replaced for the MOT! PM me if you are interested.

Ah, probably seen you around then - I'm at Long Sutton. Thanks for the offer, I should just clarify that my car had 18s fitted when I bought it but the tyres were almost worn out and the rear wheel alignment was well out, so I was unhappy with the general handling of the car. Bumpy corners had the rear end twitching (mine too...)

Now I'm used to the car (and the rear wheels are pointing in roughly the same direction) I'm sure it would behave better on 18" wheels. The thing i miss from having the 18s is the steering response - it's just not as instant with 17s fitted.

I've had a word with my Father-in-law and he will be going across to Cardiff at some point fairly soon (probably before Easter) so I'll swap my tyres from front to back in the meantime to make them last a bit longer.

Then, if Keith and I can agree on a mutually acceptable price :D I will keep the 17s on until the tyres are fully worn, fit the 18s and look into a set of winter tyres for the 17" rims. Makes sense to me but then I bought a Croma in the first place :nutter: so that's no recommendation!

Thanks again.
