hi there i cant stop my oil sump for a 20v T from leaking. i found they dont have a propa gasket and just use a gasket sealant so i have sealed it on two occasions an still no luck. has anyone had this problem? is there a cure i wonder or do i bite the bullet and buy new sump!

Clean the outside of sump with petrol and look for oil leaks on the sump pan itself, if you do find one drain out the oil, roughen the surface and then apply a few layers of fiberglass matting over the spot.

 :shakehead: Replace the sump pan, sudden loss of oil is..... unwelcome and some Fiat sump pans are known to rust through.

The 20VT sump is aluminium, so won't rust.

I know this might sound silly, but are you sure it is not the cam cover gasket? When mine was leaking, oil was running down the engine where it couldn't be seen, and was dripping off of the sump. This made it look like it was the sump that was leaking.

Due to their age I would guess that most Coupes are in need of a new cam cover gasket if they havent had one already.

Didnt know they were ally but even they can oxidise through following an impact from something sharp.

The sump is a right pain to remove. To remove you need to drop exhaust and remove a driveshaft.

As for possible leaks. Also check where the dipstick enters. This if leaking will allow oil to run down and off the sump.
