General 16V Turbo or 20V Turbo Diesel???

General 16V Turbo or 20V Turbo Diesel???

I've bought tyres for my Bravo as I have other parts for sale and need the Bravo to collect the slimline wheels. Also the old bus has been a bit neglected since I put all the new parts on her with aimed at the MOT station but bought the yellow donor Coupe instead. That's the problem with budgeting. I get caught up in the Coupe and the Bravo left.

When the Coupe wheels sell and other bits that end today I'll use that to get the brake discs and pads. :)

In the mean time I have plenty of bodywork and welding to do and that's for free. ;)

Well the air box arrived and it doesn't fit. It's from a 20V and there is no sump breather and the outlet pipe is bigger. No matter I'll find one. I have my friends in Italy looking. (y)

Also I couldn't help but notice the air box is basically a funnel behind the headlight anyway so there would still be no cold air feed to it. No wonder the chav filters make sod all difference.

I have finally given up all hope of finding a 16V turbo air box. So I've had to cut the outlet side off a 20V one and fiberglass the cut and shut pipe minus the chav filter to it.

It's worse than it looks. Doing anything in this heat reminds me why we have Winter projects. ;)

Boxy lady.

It would have looked better if I wrapped the pipe with black tape instead of paint but it will do for now. None of the 16V turbo's being broken for parts in Europe has the air box. They have all been chav'd. :bang:

The Coupe is a lovely car and the 16V Turbo is in my opinion the best engine but, the black mark over the history means the car is barely worth half what it would be if it wasn't clocked. Too slow to be a track day car in reality (it's not much quicker than a hot hatch). I'd rather sell the project on to someone than break the car for parts.

She's not Zoe yellow but to be fair the chap never said she was. The paint isn't very good either so a good base eh?

I'd feel guilty about modifying an original car but as this has already been messed with it won't be so bad.

I know car's don't have feelings but I'm pretty sure she feels at home. ;)

...or should I sell the Alfa and use the money to get the Coupe sorted?

Clocked or not she's a lovely quick and quirky car.

I've already given you the solution to the mileage issue: restore the coupe, then when you sell it, advertise it as how many miles YOU have done in it since the restoration, lol! ;)
