Thumbs down Coupe... a failure

Car failed its MOT today, i knew it would fail on the hand break, which isnt a problem but it also failed because one of the front springs have snapped

So now i have to wait till the guy gets back off holiday in two weeks time before i can get this done, he also said its very rare for the coupe of that year to break a spring... hmmmph trust me eh?!

That's not good but at least cheapish repairs... Eibach time?

Re: Coupe... a failure

i am waiting t=for him cos i dont want to spend another £40 on an MOT, they will retest for free when its done, the MOT doesnt run out till end of the month anyway.

Eibach is a no no for now, i cant afford them

Thought about looking in the classifieds?( not on the forum ) In the turbo question thread someone was talking about a site which did loads of spares for a coupe but didn't post a link! *goes off to look*

Re: Coupe... a failure

getting the two Fiat springs is cheaper than getting Eibach ones all round, i will get the eibachs but i cant afford them, also was talking in great length to one of the mods on the coupe forum who said not to get 2nd hand ones. If i go for Eibachs then its ideal to get the dampers done too, and with my financial situation being far from great then i would rather get the standard ones on for now costing £37+VAT each than spend money i havent got.

The Eibachs and lowering is something i'll consider in the future

Re: Coupe... a failure

I have just thrown out my old OE springs as well But they had probably been on the coupe since day one anyway so it's best you buying new. What does it feel like on snapped springs? was it noticeable?

Re: Coupe... a failure

not at all which is weird, iceburg said he hasnt known it on these ones but more common on plus's and LEs. I have noticed it pulls a little to the left so i have no idea if that has anythign to do with it.

H has driven mine loads and now he has his he didnt notice the difference though he did say mine is a smoother ride.

It could have been worse, i was expecting a big list of stuff TBH so i think i got off lightly

Not noticeable at all. In fairness, the MOT report says that the spring is fractured, rather than snapped. We'll get them both changed though.
