Thanks. I'll pick up the part, but get my mechanic to fit it. Not looking forward for the bill for a new clutch though. :(

Also need to pick up some oil as you should always have a litre ready to top up. I'm going witha brand name on this one...... I think.

I do love looking at the girl. She is stunning.......
Need to give her a name....;)

Nice coop! Moon grey, love it! Why don't you name it Keith? Keith Moon :p Actually don't it'll probably expire. Oil, You want proper "ester cracked" fully synth if you love her, Motul 300V, Fuchs (formerly Silkolene) 10w 40 (or 10w 50) some use 15-40 but I think it's a little too thick. Not cheap, you're paying £45 for four litres, however Oilman's doing a deal at the moment, you get another litre free. Handy, as the coop takes the whole four litres, and you need some to top up.

How often are you checking your oil? Get into the habit of doing it at least once a month, depending on mileage. They can really get through oil, these engines! as much as a litre every 1000 miles

I'm just breaking him in gently with the paranoia :D Good stuff that Paul, A friend of the family was in the oil trade, now retired. His words are "if you want the best, it's got to be Fuchs"

Nice one mate :)
Now tell the OP how often you check your oil :D

Ori,these beasts, unlike a lot of modern (sub performance) cars, use oil as a matter of course.
1 litre per 1000 miles........so the book says but it can be a lot more (or less) depending on a lot of other factors (condition of engine, state of tune, how much booting it gets etc. etc.).

Yeah, I will be checking every week or every other week.
Thanks for all the help!
I will be picking up the new thermostat from Fiat tomorrow morning. I hope that sorts out the not heating up problem. It warms up nicely (albeit slowly) in idle, but as I drive off it cools right down. Can't get it fitted until Friday morning though. I also think an air sensor is playing up slightly. Every so often I get a fault light come on and the car runs slightly off. Like the mixture is wrong. If I restart it goes off and doesn't come back.
Probably a loose connection....If I knew where to look I'd do it myself, but I'll ask my mechanic to have a look in the new year.

No it's a plus. I did correct it later in the thread.
It's got the brembo red calipers cross drilled on the fronts.
It's also got a warning light coming on which makes it run weird. Loss of power. Restart it and the injector light goes off and it runs perfectly!!!!
I'm betting oxygen sensor, but I have no way of plugging into diagnostics or get it fixed until after Xmas. Sigh.

Well I'm picking up the thermostat now and will fit in next couple of days.
I'll see how it's running but will investigate further in new year. I really think it's a sensor of some kind as it alters the mixture and hence it runs a bit rough when the light comes on. It's weird as the car runs so well when the light is off. ;)

Well after driving it on longer distances today, I can reproduce my injector light coming on pretty much on command!
Starting from cold in morning....no problem. Drove it in town all day without a hitch.
Once warm if I then go on a A road or motorway and the water temp drops down to the point where its almost cold air coming out of the vents (thermostat stuck open) then my injector light comes on.
If I drive it around in town and park up for about 20 mins. I start the car and no injector light. 30 seconds later....the light comes on.

Basically, I am not sure if its just that the stuck thermostat is confusing it and the Lambda sensor is fine or both need replacing! ;-) I guess I will know after Friday when the thermostat is replaced.

Well I've done the thermostat and car is running so much better. Actually have proper heating inside. Will try it on motorway later today. So far injector light hasn't come on, but we shall see.
Merry Xmas to all.

Merry Xmas.
Strange that now the injector light is not coming on at all (so
Far). Can the thermostat being stuck open have caused the injector light to come on interminetantly?

Hi Ori,
You really need to get a set of leads and Barnacles "startrek" software to read any codes via a laptop.
You can also use the leads with fiat scan software to reset the airbag light so it is well worth the hassle.
I have used it many times so can talk you through it.

Well since I changed the thermostat, I haven't had the injector light come on at all!!
I hope that's the last I see of it!
Next job is the clutch, gearbox oil and seal. Clutch is slipping on high revs especially on higher gears. I'll do the gearbox oil and seal when I change the clutch.
