Rubberized coating on dash

Hello all.

I have a '96 Coupe. Lately, the rubberized coating on the dash and center console has been turning sticky and gel-like. I also has a tendancy to scrape off rather easily. Does anyone know of a good product to use to clean this stuff off and make it so it's not like goo? Thanks.

Solvent will get it off and you end up with shiny black plastic underneath. I think meths / surgical spirit should do it? Be careful not to scratch the plastic when you work on it.

PS the goo gets everywhere when it comes off.

Just be careful with solvent. I'm sure someone on fccuk managed to melt the plastic

I can't see how though unless they gave it a real good soaking

Maybe they used Acetone on it.

I think you could peel it off by hand. Mine is peeling off around my stereo.

I would use white spirit to clean it off, that shouldn't do any damage.
