Re: boost gauge

I bought one of these and after fiddling with it for ages i gave up trying to get it to fit in place of the clock!!! its too big!! i dont know whether youre supposed to remove the glass or something co it doesnt fit the way its supplied!
I ended up putting the gauge into the area at the side of the steering wheel, then installed a Gtech 1 Chip and upped the boost to 1.2 bar

Ps i also run a GTiR Hybrid Turbo

Re: boost gauge

The clock position isn't ideal for the boost gauge, as its recessed into the dash and being in the centre console, its away from line of sight

If you're feeling flush, get an A-pillar cover with gauge pod built in and if you're feeling rave, cut the dash

As for boost levels, a standard 20VT running the OE bleed valve, you'll get 0.6 bar base boost, rising to between 0.9 and 1.0 bar peak. Because of the weedy standard turbo, this will tail off towards the redline, giving you about 0.6 - 0.7 bar at max revs

You can fit a PBV (passive bleed valve) that will increase the boost, but BE WARNED - its a very easy way to kill the engine if you increase the boost too far. On an otherwise standard car, you shouldn't go above 1.2 bar peak, and even then, you should probably fit a slightly modified Eprom and have the car's fuelling checked on a rolling road.
