Damn the 20 16v engine bends valves, how many will depend on what rpm it went at. My stilo abarth cam belt went on idle and only bent 1 valve, needed a head skim also. If it went at high rpm id change the big end shells also.

Re: fiat coupe 2.0 16v problems

Primary inputs on this engine are Crank sensor, Throttle position sensor, then dizzy cam phase and map.

You need to check the loom to all those connectors are ok. THe TPS sensor should have predictable change in resistance - look in the coupe manual for help. The potentiometer can fail. The dizzy sensor can also go mad and must be orrectly phased - but I dont think you can get it wrong.

Does it cut out at idle if you rev it hard? If so it must be sensor related. If it only does it under load then maybe the fuel pump is not happy or the igniton coil/amp are not good. The ignition amp next to the coil is really a simple bit of kit basically only a transitor it grouns the negative side of the coil low tension to the ecu. How is you dizzy cap an rotor arm? Is it dry inside?

Be sure to check the loom I have seen numerous abrasions and damaged cable where the boots have perished. Down load the coupe manual from where ever you can find it.
