Did you see Car SOS when they fully restored the car back to former glory. Stunning

Re: FIAT 124 Spider

Aren't they making a new model of that one for next year, or am I thinking of the Barchetta / Mazda release? They're definitely meant to be planning a new sports car version of an older Fiat model, and I read some very healthy sounding goodness that a Caterham type edition would be offered (the comparison drawn for the stripped down track car aspect). Even though I won't be able to afford one, hope they bring that out, that'll be really cool too.

Love the 125 spyder. Always promised myself one and they've always been cheaper than MGB but better looking and that twin cam! Now they are going up in value faster than I can save

Re: FIAT 124 Spider

I bought an MGB instead of one and I regret it as much as I am relieved. The 124 took seven years and nearly ten grand to restore to a roadworthy condition. My MGB took a week and 200 worth of welding.

Re: FIAT 124 Spider

I voted sub zero for this one as well as the Dino, simply because it represented the end of the "Dolce Vita" era and despite being offered with 1.4 and 1.6 engines as well as the more performance oriented 1750 and 2000 motors.

Perhaps that was part of the Italian ethos whereby you didn't need the bigger engine a'la MGB or Triumph TR4/4A/5/6 in order to have a sporty car. You could look fast even if you weren't.

Then again, there were always the Abarth and Volumex models if you wanted more "go" and the Lampredi designed engine was eminently tunable.

Sub zero. One of my all-time fav cars. I also really like the new 124.. Actually currently saving up to buy it. I'll be sure to buy one of these oldies someday tho!
