FIAT Stilo Schumacher Edition

It may have lost FIAT a lot of money, but it was a very well made car and gained a bit of a cult following.

As the successor to the original Bravo - can it inherit the cool status?

Torn on this one.

I went for cool though, it has a certain "those in the know"/q car status to it.

That's exactly what I was trying to explain with my suggestion of the Grande Punto Eleganza, lol!

The Eleganza is just a trim level on a grande though, not a model in it's own right.

It's like asking if a 500 pop is cooler than a 500 lounge or if a Mk2 active isn't as cool as a mk2 active sport.

You could say that about the Cinquecento Sporting or Punto GT though. The Eleganza is still a rare car, and it is that little bit different to most Grande Puntos.

No you couldn't

The cinquecento sporting had a completely different engine, transmission, trim and suspension revisions, it was a model in its own right.

Exactly the same as the Punto GT.

What about it?

Had the engine LONG before Fiat put it in any other Seicentos, still had slightly different transmission along with suspension changes and trim unique to the sporting.

It's a model in it's own right.

You could say that about most cars though, lol! My Grande Punto Eleganza has trim and equipment spec unique to the Eleganza, my parents' mk2 Corsa SXi has trim and alloys unique to the SXi, you get the gist.

I don't.

Does your eleganza drive any different to another Grande with the same engine?

What difference is there to the Brakes on an Eleganza? the suspension? the steering? Does it have more power than another Grande with the same engine via a different ecu? Basically, does it have any mechanical changes?

If it does not and it's changes are only trim related, it is a trim level.

If it does not have any unique mechanical differences, it is a trim level, not a unique model.

For example, 500 Pop and Lounge.

Again, surely you could say that about any car though? At the end of the day, a Cinquecento Sporting is still a Cinquecento, for example. The mechanical layout is still the same, it's merely a different variant. Each variant has SOMETHING that makes it different to the other variants, be it tweaked suspension, different trim, a different engine, etc.

Well in that case An Abarth Grande is still a Grande, so your eleganza is already up there

The cinq sporting has all that you listed to differ from the rest of the range, All of which only appeared on the sporting and made it drive unlike the others in the range. The Eleganza grande doesn't so is not a model in it's own right.

Again i'll say it, the 500 pop and lounge. Same cars, different trim. Exactly the same as the Eleganza to the equivalent GP (basically a sporting without the Sporting goodies, but others in their place). Cinquecentos, the s and the sx are only trim levels, Seicento Sporting Abarths and Schumachers are just trim levels of the Sporting etc etc.

A fair point, lol. To me though, it just feels special, the fact that it doesn't shout about the fact it's the top level, (unlike a fiesta, which has Titanium written in very noticeable writing on the back) and the fact that it is rare.

The cinq sporting has all that you listed to differ from the rest of the range, All of which only appeared on the sporting and made it drive unlike the others in the range. The Eleganza grande doesn't so is not a model in it's own right.

For me personally, that still doesn't make it a model in it's own right, it's still merely a variant of the Cinquecento, aimed at a certain type of buyer, same as the Grande Punto Eleganza. The Cinquecento Sporting was aimed at people who wanted a tiny pocket rocket, whereas the Grande Punto Eleganza was aimed at the people who didn't want/need anything bigger than a supermini, yet still wanted a plush, well equipped car.

In both cases, they represent bargains for the more intelligent used car buyer, lol!

Again, I would only class them as completely different models if there was a truly significant difference to the other variants in the range. For example, the Clio V6 is a different model to the regular mk2 Clio because it is RWD instead of FWD, and has a V6 engine in the middle of the car rather than a 4 pot in the front, if that makes sense?
