Cute, quirky and instantly recognisable; the Cinquecento Sporting has developed a cult following across the globe.

But is it cool?

never driver a Mini but I know people who have and they had a go in my old played with Cinq and they said a tuned Cinq is more fun than a Mini, tuned or stock, but mine did have all the braces, lowered, stripped and nice fat tyres lol

this is i guess highly opinion based.. but mildly breathed on cooper or clubman 1275gt can keep up with a pretty well sorted cento. Infact down a twisty i would say a modded cento stands no chance against a modded mini, would struggle to keep up with a stock mini on a twisty road. When i had the turbo seicento it would obliterate my mates 1275 on a-roads with sweeping bends and straights, but couldn't get away from it on a country lane at all.
But thing is the cento is mini-esque - small and fun and practical, just a mini is smaller and for just a drive on a sunny day i would say more fun. As something to drive everyday a cinq is so much nicer, easier to drive, comfier, sits more people easier, can carry more weight and is so much more practical - so horses for courses. For me one thing the cento has got is no-one expects a cento it be fun or even quick incase of modded ones - but everyone knows a sorted mini can be quick so you don't get all the bemused surprised faces in a mini you get when you roar past someone in a cinq.
Not gonna say a cento is better, nor will i say a mini is better - they are different things really even if they are both little cars.

I actually totally agree with you on this, I will never forget the look on my mates face as I pulled away from him in my Cinq and he was in a 2.2 SRi Vectra C that he had just bought a few weeks before for £5k lol, he was rather gutted to say the least lol.

Sorry but I've had 7 of these things and love them but they are in no way cool. Not in the slightest, unless you drop a 16v engine in one, then it's cool if you like them, but most people can't see anything other than the clown car from inbetweeners. Not cool.

2 or 3 years ago, perhaps. That's pretty much where the Seicento still is but the Cinq has moved away from, especially now the Inbetweeners craze has (thankfully) died down.

Definitely mood has changed on them, people that know what they are tend to lean much more towards "old school cool" nowadays and those that don't when they see them are almost universally positive in my experience.

I chose one as my first car and I'm completely in love with them, always will be. I get all wistful seeing them still!

Cool! I had a silver one. A friend couldn't pronounce it properly - she called it a 'cheeky cento'. I seem to remember Jeremy Clarkson saying nice things about it.

Definitely sub-zero.

Had one as my first car. Dropped to the deck with an offensive exhaust.

Had one in the late 2000s - Imola blue, the best colour - dropped on a decent suspension kit, P75 cam, offensive exhaust, Sparco bucket and Momo wheel. Great track car. Sold as I had a heart attack and couldn’t drive a car without PAS. Regret it now, as a year later I was fine!

Now own a broom yellow Sei Schumacher.

The Italian mrs had a black Cinq Young when we met in '99, but she really wanted a yellow Sporting (outside her budget). By the time we sold it in 2006 to make room for the new Panda Cross I had added a tiny bit of sportiness to it - red bumper inserts & cromodora's ex the X1/9.

Always enjoyed driving it (y)
