:bang:
My parents' PC (Packard Bell P4 system) has given up the ghost - powers up, but absolutely refuses to boot (no POST screen, nothing).
Flashed the CMOS - no change
Changed CMOS battery - no change
Changed the memory for a known working one - no change
Changed PSU for a known working one - no change
Ran chkdsk on the HDD using my PC - couple of errors, sorted those. Tried to boot my parents' HDD on my PC - boots, although it's not very stable (probably differences in CPU/mobo specs between the 2 PCs). Tried to boot the HDD on my parents' PC - nothing :bang:
Took mobo/CPU out, nothing untoward with CPU visually. Noticed some very loose caps on mobo, so got a new one. Just assembled it all and nothing! :bang:
Before I go out and get a new CPU, does anyone else have any suggestions of what else I can check? I can't think of anything else that it could be....
TIA
