| Re: computer wont turn on?? when you say it wont turn on, does it have any lights on the motherboard when you turn it on? do the fans move?

| AKA Mooman | Re: computer wont turn on?? Remove all plugs from the vack of the tower (Keyboard, Mouse etc) Unplug all the Hard Drives & Optical Drives (CD/DVD) Remove all the Expansion Cards (Graphics, Sound, Modem etc) Remove the RAM Check that the power supply is properly connected to the Mainboard. Just leave the Processor plugged in and then try powering it up. You should get some beeps or at least the fans switch on. SWITCH OFF! Next put in the RAM and try powering up. SWITCH OFF! Next put in the Graphics Card and try powering up. SWITCH OFF! Plug in a Hard Drive and power up. SWITCH OFF! Plug in your optical drives. If you have a power failure at any testing point it might be caused by the device you connected most recently. But it should work, if you have nothing with just the processor and nothing with processor and RAM then the power supply unit is most likely dead. Try using a Single RAM Module, then use the other one by itself aswell.

| Re: computer wont turn on?? ok now i think its my power supply thingy. So ive read what it says on it and it says max output 400w does this mean i have to get another 400w one? if so what price do you think it will be? thanks kris | |||

| 5vp3r m0d | Re: computer wont turn on?? No, you don't have to stick to 400W, but I wouldn't go under it. So either get a direct replacement 400W, or something with a bit more juice. They are not that expensive, although I wouldn't buy a real cheap one - how old is your machine? Still got an AGP on the motherboard?

| AKA Mooman | Re: computer wont turn on?? If you can, try a working power supply in the machine to eliminate the possibility of a dead MainBoard. You know the white slots on the Mainboard where your sound card, Network car, Modem ext plug into? These are called PCI slots an AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) slot it brown and it usually to the left of the of the PCI slots when looking at the mainboard from the front. (Front being where the keyboard and mouse plug into) AGP is not so accelerated as it used to be unfortunately

| Re: computer wont turn on?? PCI-E is the new AGP. As for your power supply just go out and buy identical if possible as you can be certain it will fit and work. The most common for these things going is over use at high temperatures, try to move your computer to a more ventilated area and add more fans
