Computer wont turn

hi, this is for a friend, his computer just wont turn on, checked obvious stuff make sure its all plugged in, when he plugs the lead into the power supply you can hear the electric if that helps, any suggestions? thanks

Thats cos the lead is live and the psu stores electricity, check the wiring to the front panel switch and ensure the rear switch if it has one is on.

After this reomve accesories and components one at a time whilst trying it to determine whats up, if you get to the mobo and no wee led is on then mobo dead.

Or the Power Supply Unit is dead.

Try a Power Supply Unit (PSU) from a working computer in there.

hi thanks for replies, he sorted it himself, got pssed off with it and kick it then it turned on, must have a loose wire

Might have been the battery on the motherboard, sometimes they get dusty and moving (or kicking in this case) can move the dust. Sounds a bit farfetched but you hear some funny tales in this business.

possibly, i was actually on the phone to him when it happened, i heard the kick and then he tried it and it worked, ill have a look at it when can
