I installed MSE a few month since with advice coming from here and it sorted some problems I had. I switched pc on this morning and it wasnt in the task bar and it didnt start automatic so I clicked on it in all programs and a red icon appeared so I thought all I had to do was click on it see if it needed updating but as soon as I put the curser on it it dissappears. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing but its just the same. The microsoft forum says to remove (some letters and numbers) from the registry so I used a reg cleaner but it wont work when reinstalled so I have a desktop I cant use at the moment just this ancient laptop Im on now. Any help would be appreciated.

When you say you 'used a registry cleaner' can you be more specific? What program did you use, what did it do, was it an automated process or did you tell it what keys to change?

Normally procedure when changing registry keys is to run 'regedit' (can be accessed from Start>Run or from a Search box) and following the instructions you found to manually amend the key.

The program is called TweakNow Reg Cleaner I just followed instructions but I dont think the ones I needed to delete were there. I am pretty good at following instructions but I am not all that confident about going into the registry and deleting something.
