e.learn Download

Has anybody tried to download/burn this to disc recently, as I have been trying with no success, all I am getting is a load of garbled writing, looks like Egyptian/Arabic.
I have tried on my Laptop and my wife has tried on her PC, we have downloaded win.rar also Nero with no success.
I will willingly make a further Donation to the Forum or purchase a Disc from another member if they have one for saleas I think it may have become corrupted.

Re: e.learn Download

That one should work OK, other members have used it successfully.

I've just uploaded this one you could try:

http://rapidshare.com/files/353430699/Stilo_eLEARN.rar

It's the one I use and I know it works. You need to burn it to a good quality CD and preferably at low speed.

I've just downloaded it and it was fine

Once expanded (with winrar) it produces "fiat-stilo.nrg" (CD image) and 3 jpg files (to produce nice covers if you wish - although not necessary)

Burn a CD with the image file and you're done.

If the CD, once created, doesn't auto start then double click on setup.exe

The file is not corrupted.

Re: e.learn Download

I am getting pictures of, a CD, Bonnet, and some info printed on a cover, These are fine, when I click on the main data file I get the message Adobe cannot read the file, neither can Windows. When it is extracted via winrar it is all garbled, when I copied it to CD all I got again was garbled, I am obviously doing something wrong but cannot fahom it out. The CD' I am using are Sony!

Re: e.learn Download

As Argo says above, once you've unzipped the RAR file with WinRar you should get a file named "fiat stilo.nrg". When you click on the file it should automaticaly open Nero which has a "Burn" button to burn the CD. You need to have Nero installed on your computer before clicking on "fiat stilo.nrg"

I don't understand where Adobe comes in to it. There are no Adobe files once you've unzipped the RAR file.

Fudge, you're trying to read or extract the fiat-stilo.nrg file - that's not the way to do it. It's a specially archived dataset which can only be converted to CD format.

Use Winrar to unpack the downloaded files into a temporary folder, but don't try to open them. Instead, start Nero or a similar CD-burning programme and choose "Burn Image" or the equivalent. When the programme asks for the location of the image file, point it to the temporary folder. Choose 4x burning speed for a slow, careful job.

Good luck, and welcome to FF!

I am obviously doing something wrong but as far as I can tell I don't have a clue what it is.

Re: e.learn Download

Just seen the above post from Steve, that is what I am doing wrong, I have been trying to read them. Will give it another go and let you know what happens. Please bear with me on this, I can strip an engine etc, etc, but am not very good at this Techy stuff, all I know which is very little is what I have learned by Trial and Error.

Gary.

Re: e.learn Download

That's what you're supposed to get, 3 photos (cover pictures for the CD and box) and the nrg file.

You can't open the nrg file to see it's contents. The nrg file is a special file that only opens in Nero to burn the CD.

If you were to try opening the nrg file with notepad or wordpad etc. all you would see is a useless jumble of random characters.

Re: e.learn Download

If you're double clicking on fiat-stilo.nrg and Adobe Reader tries to open it then you have a badly configured O/S.

In computer terms this is called selecting the work and then expecting the computer to choose the right tool for you (which can go wrong)

However, you can still overcome this by using the much older established procedure of selecting the correct tool first and then selecting the work

In this case I would suggest you startup Nero (the tool) and then use Nero to 'open' the file fiat-stilo.nrg (the work)

As suggested in previous post you must use the 'burn image to CD' option within Nero (or something like that).

You'll find a huge amount of info on burning CDs via Google or just look for 'help' within Nero

Re: e.learn Download

Hello fudge, seems to me you haven't got the right Nero app installed on your PC - never mind, a free and better program is Imgburn, which will write.nrg files.
http://www.imgburn.com/
Quote Quote:
ImgBurn supports a wide range of image file formats - including BIN, CUE, DI, DVD, GI, IMG, ISO, MDS, NRG and PDI.
Here is what you do:
First, double-click to open Davren's rar file you downloaded, and then drag the Fiat Stilo.nrg file on to your desktop.

Download ImgBurn,(it's free efficient and lightweight) only 2.1MB

http://download.softpedia.com/dl/95a...rn_2.5.0.0.exe

When it's downloaded, either double-click to install, (or probably right-click and "run as administrator" if using Vista).
Click "Finish" at end of install and ImgBurn will start.

You will be presented with 6 graphical options - choose top left, "Write Image File to Disc". Click on it.

New window opens, at top left see, "Please select a file" then along the line click the small image of a folder to browse to the location of the Fiat Stilo.nrg file i.e. Desktop.... see it? Click it! Scroll down till you see the Fiat Stilo.nrg file, and double-click on it.
Now you should see the file selected as "Source" top left of ImgBurn window,

Nearly there - put a new CD in the drive. At bottom right click on speed dropdown menu and choose 1x or 2x.

Move to left and click the "write icon".

The disc will now be written.

I tried to do this in a simple step-by-step way. Hope it helps.
