VGA and HDMI are completly different signals. VGA being analogue signal, and HDMI being digital.

having said that, and ebayed "VGA to HDMI cable" - Im rather confused that people are selling them. Especially the ones who talk about HD Audio, seeing as VGA doesn't transmit audio at all.

If your TV has a VGA port, use that.

"i have also been told to press fn and f3 but just dont know about to throught laptop out window" - What?

You're supposed to use them the other way around... HDMI source to VGA screen... i think.

Most computer graphics cards output DVI-I which contains pins for digital and analogue. Some manufacturers have butchered the spec to use the analogue pins to transmit sound meaning it's possible to output sound and video via DVI to a HDMI input.

fn + f3 is probably the keyboard shortcut to choose between laptop screen/vga port/combined vga port + laptop screen

ok so i need vga to vga then , ok ta but just dont see y it wont work with hdmi as i have utubed it as well and some one has used avga convertor to use a hdmi, o well ill just have to get a vga to vga , cheers chaps .
any one wanna buy a vga to hdmi cable .... lol

remember you will also need to get a audio cable if you plan on having sound through your tv ;)

If anyone needs a dvi to hdmi adaptor I've got several going spare.
Additionally I have spare svideo to rgb adaptors, just drop me a PM and we can discuss postage (adaptors themselves are going free).
