Right i have an EEE for surfing T'interweb whilst i am out and about but have never really used linux other than web browsing.

I know nothing about it and got confused when reading articles.

So all i want to do is install some games and other apps on it and read about the Wine programme.

what do i have to do to get wine and install things.:(

may come as a shock, but you simply download and install.

read the wine wiki ffs :p

and dont play games on a linux machine.

If you can't get your head around Wine....try Crossover Office....Wine for Idiots....

Its called crossover linux now.

And jug it isn't as simple as download and install.... It never is on linux. Not unless your lucky enough to have a precompiled package for your specific distro your using.

Thats whats good about Ubuntu.

Add\Remove application download and install manager with a list of close to 100 different apps and a few games. Games are pretty all much crap but theres a couple good ones.

Most distro's have a package manager weither it uses RPM's or DEB packages. just a case of figuring out how to use it on different distro's

precompiled binary packages are available for many distributions. i havent tried downloading the source to compile myself.
