Our Talktalk bill is nice, as is my parents and my gf's parents, however our internet is rubbish connection. Its ok but not as good as I'd like - majority of time I cant get my hotmail to open.

Saying that I think we are in a bad area for it - my gf is also on talktalk internet and whilst its not the best in the world we never really have any problems with it.

So in summary - I've given you 2 examples one god one bad. helpful eh?

I've heard that when Talk Talks connections work they are great.

However as soon as you start having problems, thats when the REAL problems start with them as their customer service is shocking.

The prices may be good, but is it really worth it if you end up being one of the connections who have nothing but problems?

Plusnet for me all the way! £14.99 a month and the last I had looked they were the best in the Uk for customer service. I have never had a reason to fault them whenever I have had to contact them.

i signed up for talktalk phone and broadband in 2007. they said my broadband went live and started charging me for it, but it didnt work. i tried technical support (at least 100 calls/emails over 6 weeks) before i got fed up and refused to pay for internet if i wasnt getting it. talktalk coudnt fix the fault so they sent me a huge bill for 12 months worth of internet plus late payment charges and threatened to take me to court. it took several months of dispute and the help of ofcom to avoid paying them. thankfully i managed to leave without paying them a penny, and then BT got my internet working less than 48 hours later.

talktalk technical support is less technical than a teabag. they havent got a bloody clue.

I used to sell for BT. If you had a talk talk customer the first thing you asked was how is the service?
Talk talk can't be beat on price really on phone and internet. But the service is known to be pants.

If you only need/want internet (not a phone service as well) then go with o2. Yes they are not 100% reliable but their customer service is spot on (and freephone). Also they use adsl 2+ so unless you are miles from the exchange it should be a good bit faster than the talk talk service :)

Avoid TalkTalk and Orange BroadBand at all costs imho, everyone I know who has switched couldn't get a connection on a known to be working line and then had real trouble getting off and a new connection working.

O2 are meant to be amazing for the money, especially if you have a sim with them.

If you want cheap and good customer service Post Office are doing a damn good deal at the moment (made better by the fact that their billing system seems to be constantly broken so more often than not you don't have to pay anything ;)). I work for Tesco Telecoms and would say avoid our stuff 'cos it's too expensive and there are no combined packages, avoid TalkTalk 'cos their customer service is rubbish despite the price and avoid Orange 'cos they seem incapable of telling BT what they're doing and people often end up getting billed twice (which should be impossible ...)
