in the last week I have started getting hundreds of spam emails, the usual rubbish of various drugs like viagra and diet pills etc, I havent signed up to anything recently as I use a junk email address for things like that.

What can I do about it? I dont really want to change my email address.

What email account is this coming to?
Webbased (Hotmail, gmail, etc) or through Outlook/ Thunderbird?

I have just been on to the yahoo mail website, and set the spam filter to on, and thats sorted it I think.

Yahoo! Mail is dire for spam atm, my 4 addresses are getting spammed more than Daz_Rich gets ripped and my mum has every bank phishing scam arriving to hers daily.

Up until about a week ago I was getting loads of them a day, but I was just forwarding them on to the relevant email addresses on the bank's website [each bank usually has a security page, detailing what to do] which deals with it, and then just deleting them from my inbox, if nobody bothers forwarding them then they cant look into it and deal with the problem, is how I see it.

I have set up some message rules too, which makes some stuff go direct to deleted items.

After switching on the spam filter earlier though, they seem to have stopped. I think I initially turned it off cos I was getting emails off somebody I know and they were getting marked as spam.


Heres one for you then. Why and when did junk mail become "spam"? spam as a meat form[?] is disgusting, but sort of nice at the same time, as weird as that is!! :yum:

Ive been getting tons of emails since i signed up for them motorshow tickets (the free ones). I did some to my gf's email and mine, and we recieve the same junk emails.
