| Cymru Am Byth! | old skool - ntbackup!! :s right...bit of an old skooler request here! anyone familiar with using ntbackup on a windows nt4 server? at the mo im running a backup manually by just selecting the files to run. i need to backup around 25 folders on the d drive (not the whole d)... can anyone help with a batch file to do this (will also need to verify the data) nothing else fancy after that, maybe eject the tape when it completes would be nice but not essential!! thanks in anticipation lol!

| More ICE Please | Re: old skool - ntbackup!! :s Im no expert on these kind of things but i think that we use software called Retrospect and that only backs up things that have changed or new folders and i would imagine that you can specify a specific area to back up. | ||

| blessed are the apostates | Re: old skool - ntbackup!! :s drag and drop or copy and paste to your tape drive. nt4 is just the nt version of win95, so you can do the same things as you would on win95 (and hence 98/me/2000/xp). | ||

| Cymru Am Byth! | Re: old skool - ntbackup!! :s i want to schedule it to run silently if possible using a batch file and winat if anyone can help with that? it works fine manually but its a bit tedious...this is only a temp measure until the box is replaced!

| Mr Pedantic | Re: old skool - ntbackup!! :s
ntbackup backup "d:\folder2" /j "Backup of folder2" /A ntbackup backup "d:\folder3" /j "Backup of folder3" /A ... The /N in the first line renames the tape - you don't have to do this, but it saves you having to specify an existing media name. The /A in the following lines appends your data to the tape - if you don't do this you'll overwrite the backups you've already done. Alternatively you could shell out for Symantec Backup Exec - there's a wealth of useful advice and hints at www.backupexecfaq.com ![]() | |||
