Diagnostics for what exactly?. Whats wrong with it?.

think fan is broken and things are over heating

need to check temperature of some crap and can you check to see if the fan is working

I use EVEREST Ultimate Edition, tells you all that plus loads more. Not sure if that one you posted above does tho.

In that case the laptop lacks the most basic sensor's and it should have a hammer taken to it immediatly.

On a serious note have you tried running something very CPU intensive... that should kick the fan into operation, try a 3D benchmarking program or similar.

What are the symptoms what makes you think its overheating?.

its foookin well hot and nothing is coming out the fan area

Needs taking apart then see if the fan can be salvaged. I take apart at least one dell laptop every week they are complete gash. Sony are a lot better but as a result are quite hard to get into.

How old?... If its anything less than a Pentium 4 / AMD Athlon XP it needs scrapping.
