Seriously though...I think a recon G.Box varies between £500 and £1000

Labour...youre looking at a good 2 hours to remove, same to replace...so ~£200 @ £50 per hour

What's up with it?

A decent s/h box can be yours for £100 or less. (Make absolutely sure it's a Sporting box -- the S and SX use different boxes, driveshafts, cables, etc.)

The back street clutch fitters round here will fit a gearbox for £100. It is a DIYable job, but a real pain to do without a transmission jack and a lift.

Checked the oil recently?

Its jumping out of second gear under acceleration. Fine in all other gears.

Sometime refuses to go into first aswell, but only when Ive been driving about for ages or sitting in traffic.

Rang around everywhere in Birmingham.

cheapest I found was £275 to recondition my own gearbox and refit it. Sounded like a nice guy, spoke to some idiots this morning that I wouldnt even go to, even if they said £10.

head gasket or rocker gasket cant remember

Fiat would ask you to gross their palm with over 1100 silvers for a new gearbox!
