(G) Seicento passenger seat wont open..

I've had this problem since I've had my Sei (my brother had it when the car was his), the passenger seat wont "open" so that you can access the back seats.. It looks like when you pull the handle, the cable is just not tight enough to pull the catch up and over whatever its grabbing on to.

However, when you sit on the front of the passenger seat and pull the lever it opens every time. You can also open it when you push down hard backwards on the seat and pull the lever.

Has anyone had this problem before and if so how easy is it to fix? I cant really afford a new seat right now.

If its same as cinq seat,check the 2 rubbers on the seat rail on floor.My own driver seat had one missing and seat moved around a lot,so maybe your rubbers are either not sitting in properly or are sitting too high.Also have noticed the seat locating hook that locks seat to floor rail can sometimes bend and on mine means it does not close properly so check this.The operating cables can sometimes stretch.If sitting on seat lets it release then i would say that the rubbers may be compressing and allowing catch to open.

Checked the rubber bits, they were both intact so I dont know whats wrong really?

Might be worthwhile popping the whole seat out and cleaning everything up. If the worst comes to the worst, you can pick up a seat very cheaply.

to be honest mate if everything is clean and the rubbers are good then i would get a new cable mate that should do it
