hi!

i can get hold of all the central locking bits from a cinq sporting from my local scrappy (£25)

will it be possible to remove all the bits and then fit them to my cinq s?

totally possible but much easier if the wiring harness is in the cinq as standard.check your motor also check(as is in a lot of cars) if the central locking wiring loom plugs into the existing loom.after that its a case of physically fitting the parts which aint too hard as the mounting holes etc SHOULD be there

Hey cool i might do this do my 899cc cinq. It doesn't have central locking and its not like i need it but it would be nice. I might ask local crappy if hes got one in. Will it say in the haynes guide how to connect it all up. i.e is it easy?

ive done both on other motors, generally the door patterns etc are standard throughout, probably have to drill out the mounts for the manual winders as the tend to be pop rivitted, also be carefull as the glass on some cars is different for leccy windows.as for connecting up the wires its not too difficult ,it just depends on what wires are in the car as standard, and whether the c/locking/windows wiring just plugs into the existing loom.also bear in mind the costs as it might be easier just to buy an SX and get these items as standard ,cos come resale time these dont really add to the value and technically you should declare to your insurer;)

hate to rub it in, but I love my Cinq's electric windows. had them on my SX and so pleased the sporting has them! Sporting doesn't have a sunroof though[:(!]

i spent 3 hours at the scrappy on friday with two mates stripping a cinq down. we got all the central locking bits out easy but we found that they dont plug into the existing wiring loom in the 899 cinq. we thought we could just get the wires we needed - we were wrong.

we removed the dash (through the windscreen cos we couldnt get the steering wheel off - we had to remove the windscreen ourselves) and then started to find the right wires. we gave up in the end cos it was a nightmare stripping out the right wires) if you have the time and the patience to get the wires then it will work - but set aside a few hours.
