Re: extra stiff gears...first was jst 1st gear

if it is just adjustment it takes about 5 minutes to fix and 3 minutes of that is making a cup of tea there are other things it could possibly be like the linkage, gearbox etc, but look on the bright side for now

BTW Welcome to the Forum

Re: extra stiff gears...first was jst 1st gear

even if it was the gearbox you could still use it if it wasn't fixed, just use second gear a few more revs and slip the clutch

don't let it get you down before going on your hols.

Re: extra stiff gears...first was jst 1st gear

Do you have all your gears now?

an exhaust should not cost that much. a local exhaust place should be able to fit you up for a fraction of that you can even pick them up on ebay. For that much money you can get a custom made stainless exhaust

brakes well they do wear out and £35 is quite a good garage price and TBO the price for the clutch if that is fitted isn't that bad either if your sure it needs replaceing.

I reckon you should be able to get this stuff done for £200, £300 at the very most

Where abouts in the country are you? there are lots of decent people around here that might have a quick look at it and advise you.

Re: extra stiff gears...first was jst 1st gear

it's the exhaust that is well over the top look at this http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/exhausts...p?recordID=659

whole exhaust for your car including the cat £145 plus vat! and the cat bit doesn't usually go

There a definatly people from your neck of the woods around here

Have a good holiday

Re: extra stiff gears...first was jst 1st gear

hmmm ~~ is the garage telling the stiff gear is cause by the clutch ??

Honestly, i had stiff first and second gea ( did u find putting in reverse makes a big sound?,

and a simple clutch cable adjustment sorted the whole problem.. and my changing gear is as smooth as anything....

So becaure with what they say and as for the exhust system, is it the whole things that need changing ?? Or just the middle section ?? As i got my middle section done by kwit fit for £23 and that are part + labour.
