Seicento SPI tuning questions

Hi Guys / Girls

Looking at some options for my seicento sporting 1108cc SPI but i have a few questions.

1. I have seen a flywheel on a cinquecento with part number 7748314 will this fit my seicento? Intentions are for my dad to lighten (according to guide on here think off top of my head its about a 25% wieght reduction) and then get balanced for about 4500 RPM.

2. Read about the punto 75 camshaft for the seicento SPI 1108cc engine but again i have some questions. Will the camshaft fit with original shims or will it need reshimming to fit. (if so may just get one reprofiled to suit and then re-shim that).

Any help much aprecitated

Many thanks
Matt

i had 2kg taken off my flywheel. if ur changing that, may as well put a better clutch on too.

I'm not sure at what level of tune in a 1100 an upgraded clutch becomes necessary, but if you're balancing the flywheel, and you're (obviously) pulling the gearbox, you'd be daft not to get a new clutch and balance that with the flywheel. Especially as you're not paying for it......................

Re: Seicento SPI tuning questions

Yeah cheers guys

My car already has a 40mm TB and im removing the ecu soon to get a specific Mkcritch chip. Im also very interested in that new induction system for the SPI it looks mean.

Yeah luckily dad has worked with lathes all his life and we lighten flywheels for kart racing so its not too difficult i can even get it balanced for nothing aswell. And if i can get hold of an 866 cam i think i will leave the engine mods at that for the time being.

Arc, about the head, again dad can work hes magic and he will probably do one from scratch to similar specs and anyway im only 18 and still in sixth form so i have no £££. so thats out the window. Must admit though does look nice.

I just want to have that little bit more power so that the 1.2 corsa have a good run for their money against me (i mean the 1.2 16V +).

Oh yeah: does anyone know if the named flywheel will fit anyway.

Thanks guys your help is much apreciated

Matt

The function of shimming is to take up manufacturing tolerances and wear, so you'll need to re-shim whatever different cam you put in. Economically, using a 75 cam is going to be much, much, cheaper while re-profiling is always a bit iffy. Don't see the issue really: classic Ducatis need re-shimming every 2,000 miles or so, that's 8 shims on a 2 cylinder 2 valve motor............. You young people have never had it so good.................
