| Best options for torque gains? With £500 what's the best way to get more torque, primarily, and power out of a Mk1 Sei? I've got a CSC exhaust in the post, consider it installed already, & the car already has a green cotton filter. My list is (I'm sure this lot will break the £500 limit but hey) - * GSR induction kit * 40mm Throttle Body * C&B 268 cam (or something equivalent) * Mckcrich chip

Otherwise -- completely untested -- Mckrich, Pug/Citroen 36mm tb (less than £20 from a scrapper), DIY induction system. See how that lot goes and think -- with the vast savings you've made -- about some head work before the cam.

| ' | Re: Best options for torque gains? For about £400-£500 you can get a low milage 1.2 16V. Of course the extra lil bits may take it higher, but you get nice big gains all around. I have started a fund recently for this very job ![]() Kristian /edit, sorry i meant for mk2 where i hope you can use the same ecu. Costs will be higher than what i said if you need a new ECU etc.

| Re: Best options for torque gains? Fingers99, I'm more wanting things that are a known quantity, I'm not wanting to revisit further down the road. Liam, I've got items in the works for brakes and suspension, I just want to bolster the engine a little. kritip, I've got the bottom end of a 1242 8v (60 I think, can't remember), so as long as the 1108 head will bolt on that's my 1242cc. I'm more wanting torque than power.

| custodian of imola blue | Re: Best options for torque gains? OK. But there really are no known (objectively) quantities here at the sub £500 level! Here's my logic: A NOX kit will improve torque. Larger capacity will improve torque. The Mckritch will make the car nicer to drive. A bigger throttle body at a bargain price will help -- a 40mm body may be too big without further modifications and, generally, large increases in TB help top end at the price of bottom end. A decent induction system will help, but you already have a filter. Make your own. It's pretty well established that the length of the system helps torque but even more important is that it recieves a good supply of cold air. Fitting a lumpier, longer duration cam won't help torque and is a step you want to take only after gas flowing the head: that extra gas needs to be able to move.

Well, Standard 1.1 Cinquecento engine, 86 Nm at 3250rpm, 60 Selecta 1.2 engine 98 Nm at 3000 RPM, Punto 85 16V engine 113 Nm at 4500 rpm Volvo 2.3 940 SE turbo 264 Nm at 3420 rmp, therefore you should spend 500 quid on a Volvo. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1995-VOLVO-940...QQcmdZViewItem

| I Need Beer | Re: Best options for torque gains? are you trying to copy my car spec? GSR £99 40mm TB £130 C&B 268 £240 Mckritch £52 So a wee bit over budget With the SS manifold and CSC cat back mine is very drivable if I were you start with the Mckritch then GSR then TB then the C&B if you still want more after that all these bits would transplant to a 1242BTW if you go the NOS route that would be about £500 for the kit then £30Per 5lb refill but if you do go that way let me know how to do it! had a press of the NOS button in a hot Integra Type R I was having a go in yesterday and I'm Hooked Don't forget that adding a GSR to an 1108 gives you the same torque as a 1242

| Re: Best options for torque gains? allanhelen, no but it looks to be a nice spec for a cento. How does it compare to a standard Cinq sporting at 2500 to 4000 rpm?

I am happy with the way my car goes now there is no fat spot and it pulls like a train, it's quite effortless compared to what I recall it being like. One of the reasons I fitted the bigger brakes was that often it catches people out. They see a small car and don't expect it to be going as fast or accelerating as quickly as it actually is, so they pull out in front of you so don't forget the stoppy stuff as well when you are doing things, uprated discs and pads upfront and a quick service of the rears if nothing else.As I said go for the GSR, TB then Mckrich first. IIRC the TB gave the single biggest noticable improvement. You do know that once you start messing with these things you can't stop don't you? I was only looking for a cure for the flat spot and things just seem to have got a bit out of hand ![]() This years bonus looks like it won't be big enough to fund it, so a pipe dream for now

| Re: Best options for torque gains? Okay I'm not looking to change my car, I don't want to do a conversion unless it's from parts I already have. I'm just looking to get it a little more effortless in the mid-range and a bit more power
